Torcello: Santa Fosca
The centrally planned church of Santa Fosca, which houses the remains of the eponymous saint, lies next to the cathedral of Torcello and was built circa 1100.
The main area of the sparsely decorated interior appears circular, but is in fact square. The space is delimited by eight cipollino columns, topped with fine marble capitals. The figure of the recumbent saint dates back to 1407. |
