Palazzi Giustinian
Map.
The two Gothic structures which make up the Palazzi Giustinian dei Vescovi date back to the 15th century.
The design of the double façade may be the work of Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon. There are carved heads at the centre of the capitals on the piano nobile, a decorative feature which Bartolomeo Bon often put into his work. Richard Wagner spent the winter of 1858-9 in the palazzo nearest the Rialto. The composer rented two large rooms and completed the second act of Tristan und Isolde. |
