Sant'Erasmo

Sant'Erasmo is the largest island in the Venetian lagoon. Ruined fortifications, including the Torre Massimiliana (built by the Austrian Archduke Maximilian in 1843-44), ring the island. 

​Sant'Ersamo is now best known for its market gardens, which supply Venice's street markets.
