Casina Rossa
The charming little Casina Rossa, or Casina della Rose, was built for Prince Hohenlohe by the architect Domenico Rupolo.
The Casina Rossa was once the studio of Antonio Canova, who sculpted the statue of Daedalus and Icarus (which is now in the Museo Correr) here. During the first world war the Casina, which is situated on the Grand Canal, became the home of the writer Gabriele D'Annunzio. |
