San Francesco di Paola
Map.
The late Renaissance church of San Francesco di Paola was built between 1589 and 1619 and modernised in the 18th century.
Its interior takes the form of a single nave and a deep chancel, both flanked by side chapels. The surviving barco extends down the sides of the nave over three of the side chapels. The panels of the flat ceiling are decorated with paintings by Giovanni Contarini. The church is dedicated to Saint Francis of Paola (1416-1507), who was a friar and the founder of the Order of Minims. |
