The Palazzo Contarini delle Figure dates back to the 16th century and is thought to be the work of Scarpagnino.
The palace takes its name from the two sculpted figures (which are very difficult to make out) above the entrance. According to legend, they represent a gambler and his angry wife, whom he has staked and lost in one desperate bet. |
