Maròco de le pipone

The Maròco de le pipone (Marocco dei Meloni) was once one of Venice's three statue parlanti ('talking' statues).

​The little melon seller sits at the base of the grey granite column (on which stands the winged lion) in the Piazzetta di San Marco, extremely close to what was once the heart of political power, namely the Palazzo Ducale.
