Map The Archivio di Stato di Venezia (the Archive of the Venetian State) is housed in the ex-conventual buildings of the monastic churches of
Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and San Nicoletto della Lattuga. The archives, reputedly the second largest in the world after those of the Vatican, were opened in 1815 and take up 70 kms of shelves. The archive occupy rooms which are arranged around two cloisters, the Chiostro della Trinita (also known as the Chiostro dei Morti) and the Chiostro di Sant' Antonio. |
