Palazzo Grassi
Map.
The Palazzo Grassi, which is situated on the Grand Canal, was designed by the architect Giorgio Massari for Angelo Grassi.
The Grassi family, who were originally from Bologna, had, in 1716, bought their way into the patrician class by making a contribution to the treasury of 60,000 ducats. The palazzo was built between 1748 and 1772. The Palazzo Grassi is now the property of François Pinault and frequently hosts exhibitions of contemporary art. |
