Scuola dell'Angelo Custode
The Scuola dell'Angelo Custode, which was built by Andrea Tirali in 1714, has, for the last two centuries, belonged to the Lutheran Evangelical Church.
The congregation worship in what would have been the meeting-hall of the scuola, which lies on the first floor. The Lutherans have preserved the original altarpiece of the scuola, the work of Sebastiano Ricci, which depicts the Madonna and the Archangel Michael. On the wall, to either side, are paintings by Titian and Lucas Cranach. Cranach's painting is a portrait of an elderly Martin Luther.
The sculpture of the eponymous angel, above the entrance to the scuola, is by Heinrich Meyring.
