Burano: San Martino Vescovo

San Martino Vescovo, which was founded in 959, is Burano's only church. It has been rebuilt many times and the present plain structure dates back to the sixteenth century. 

The interior takes the form of a Latin Cross, with aisles and transepts. 

The tall campanile (1703-14), with its distinct inclination to the south, is the work of Andrea Tirali. 

The Oratorio di Santa Barbara, formerly the Scuola dei Pescatori, stands next to the church.
