San Zaccaria: Chapel of San Tarasio
The Chapel of San Tarasio (Cappella di San Tarasio), which was once the apse of the earlier church, boasts frescoes (signed and dated 1442) by the Florentine artist Andrea del Castagno and Francesco da Faenza.
The chapel has on display three beautiful polyptychs, the work (mostly) of Antonio Vivarini and his brother-in-law Giovanni d'Alemagna. Stairs lead down from the chapel to the permanently flooded 10th century crypt. |
